In 1969 Ford designed a Torino body with an extended low drag front end. This design was created for competitive use in automotive sports. The limited edition street version of this special aerodynamic design was called the Talladega.

1971 marked the last year for the GTX as a separate model, but it had real
muscle thanks to its 440 c.i.d. V-8 with 3 two-barrel carbs and 385 horses.
With all that power and added good looks, it was the definitive "muscle" car in
its day.
