The first Peterbilt truck
rolled off the assembly line as long ago as 1939. Since that time the name
of Peterbilt has been synonymous with reliability and quality. The Peterbilt
353, a special version of the well known King of the Highway, is particularly
suitable for long haul operation in the North of the American continent. The
heavy duty chassis is designed to cope with extreme load conditions. Special
equipment features range from air conditioning for the driver's comfort to
a protective radiator cover and heavy mudguards in conjunction with mud flaps.
A heat exchanger warms the batteries and tanks. More robust steel rims are
available in place of the conventional aluminum rims. All Peterbilt cabs sport
an aluminum skin as a reliable protection against corrosion. Apart from that
each Peterbilt is custom built and equipped. The power unit of this Peterbilt
is an NTC 425 Cummins diesel engine of 317 kW (425 PS).

The largest model
in the current XF series was launched in 2005. The design modifications made
to its predecessor include the lamp clusters in the bumper and the radiator
grill that now extends to the bumper to ensure improved engine cooling. The
Paccar MX engine used was also newly developed by DAF. This 6-cylinders-in-line
turbo-diesel engine with a capacity of 12.9 litres and charge-air intercooling
is available to potential customers in three versions with maximum capacities
of 410 to 510 bhp. According to requirements, the XF105 is available with a
16-speed manual or AS Tronic automatic gearbox also suppliedby ZF.
The Space Cab cabin of the "Truck of the Year 2007" with a height
of just 1.75 m from the engine compartment and a length of 2.25 m offers a luxuriously
designed work space. The two roomy bunks, effective use of space, 800 litre
cargo volume and attractive materials in the interior are equally persuasive.
The interior, which thanks to its large windscreen is clearly visible on the
model, is designed to suit the requirements of the driver and guarantees an
excellently equipped workplace. Like the original, the model also has two beds.
The 158-piece model kit offers large cabin parts, a frame with many engraved
features and a sheet of decals for two different versions of decoration.

It was not without justification that, in the early 1990s the Kenworth truck
manufacturers based in Kirkland, Washington (the name being composed from
the names of the founders Harry Kent and Edgar Worthington) described their
products as the best Conventional in the world. This American super-truck
offers remarkably robust construction of chassis and superstructure, much
striking chrome, expensive internal fittings and a very comfortable interior.
Features such as air conditioning, refrigerator, the radio and TV that are
now almost obligatory in the roomy cab, guarantee a pleasant life for the
driver who for weeks on end has to call his truck home. Its durable, powerful
270 to 450 bhp engines provide speedy freight transport over many thousands
of miles. For years Kenworth were the most expensive trucks in the United
States, because Kenworth expended more time and effort on the construction
of their trucks than any other manufacturer, as is apparent from the W-900.
Kenworth trucks are still known for their reliability, quality, efficiency
and long service life.

During the 50s tremendous effort, vigour and energy was invested in the
reconstruction of the Federal Republic of Germany. Great progress was also made
in the development of the motor industry, particularly in the field of commercial
vehicles. These were the years of the mighty heavy-duty lorries with their long
bonnets, but they were underpowered and recognizable by the characteristic harsh
noise of their four stroke diesel engines. In addition to Mercedes-Benz, MAN,
Krupp, Magirus-Deutz, Henschel, Kaelble and Faun the Büssing 8000 S13 was
one of the best known and most imposing lorries of the period. Heinrich Büssing,
born in Nordsteimke close to Wolfsburg in 1843, built his first lorry in 1903.
In 1952 the updated Büssing 8000 S13 was presented to the public. The S13
was now powered by a 180 hp six-cylinder diesel engine, the "S" standing
for vertically mounted engine and the "13" for 13 litre total displacement.
Although over time a variety of superstructures were made for the Büssing
8000, it was the tarpaulin covered flatbed truck that was the most familiar.
Even before the Second World War the Schenker & Co transportation company,
founded in Vienna in 1872 had concentrated on the areas of express services,
inter-regional transport and removals and exhibition transport. As the largest
German haulage company of the "thirties" the company had then, as
also today numerous branches including Braunschweig, whose fleet of vehicles
in the late fifties included a number of Bussing 8000 S3's.

or underbodies. In the heavy goods sector, including excavators, wheel loaders
and bulldozers, vehicles were designed with a low platform height to simplify
the loading and unloading of heavy construction machinery. The six-wheel semi-trailer
is such a vehicle. Produced by several companies, the 14 m semi-trailer's
loading edge is 0.80 to 0.90 m from the ground. Axles with twin tyres and
a load capacity of 8-10 tons give the hitched trailer a payload capacity of
30-40 tons. Adjustable ramps allow the loading of vehicles without self-propulsion,
using grab winches with separate hoisting and discharging drums.

Plastic Model Kit
The Mack "R" Conventional tractor plus a rugged aluminum tank
trailer provide a safe and reliable combination for the transportation of petroleum
products. The Mack "R" model equipped with a Maxidyne engine is well
suited for medium or long distance operation, add a tank trailer that is forty
feet in length and can carry 9200 gallons of fuel in five separate compartments,
together they form a highly reliable cross-country rig. Trailer can be uncoupled
from the tractor and assembled with drawbar support legs in raised or lowered
position. Snap together assembly no glue necessary. Colorful peel'n stick graphics.
Molded in blue, silver, black and clear with chrome plated parts.

Perhaps the most well known name in the annals of trucking history is the Mack
model AC - or "Bulldog", as it became known by the American soldiers
in World War 1. Production of the famous Bulldog, with its characteristic hood
shape, was started in 1915 and continued through until 1935. It served proudly
and well in every conceivable function where a truck could be used. The term
"Built like a Mack Truck" became a popular phrase to describe anything
solid and dependable. Detailed interior and chassis. Hood opens to show realistic
